An Architecture for a Distributed Universal Location Service

چکیده
| Location information about mobile users or other mobile objects is a valuable input for many applications in mobile computing and wireless communications. As this information is used by an increasing number of applications it is not practical for them to gather the location information themselves, as most systems do now. These applications could be developed much easier if they were based on a universal location service which manages the location information. This location service has to be independent from the applications it is used by and the sources it gathers location sightings from. In this paper we propose an architecture for such a distributed universal location service in the Internet. To increase the availability of the location information, the service is designed to store different copies of the location information of an object with varying accuracy on different servers, depending on the requirements of the applications accessing it.

Neural Network Based Protection of Software Defined Network Controller against Distributed Denial of Service Attacks
Software Defined Network (SDN) is a new architecture for network management and its main concept is centralizing network management in the network control level that has an overview of the network and determines the forwarding rules for switches and routers (the data level). Although this centralized control is the main advantage of SDN, it is also a single point of failure. If this main contro...
متن کاملNetwork Location Problem with Stochastic and Uniformly Distributed Demands
This paper investigates the network location problem for single-server facilities that are subject to congestion. In each network edge, customers are uniformly distributed along the edge and their requests for service are assumed to be generated according to a Poisson process. A number of facilities are to be selected from a number of candidate sites and a single server is located at each facil...
متن کاملAn Architectural Pattern to Extend the Interaction Model between Web-Services: The Location-Based Service Context
Internet has succeeded as a global information system mainly because of its availability and openness, and the simplicity of its standards and protocols. However, the current use of Internet as universal middleware has clearly shown the lack of maturity of Web technology to support distributed applications, which involve communication, cooperation, and coordination. This paper proposes an archi...
متن کاملA Distributed Architecture for Remote Service
Service discovery is very important in realizing the concept of pervasive computing. Consequently, service discovery protocols must be able to work in the heterogeneous environment offered by pervasive computing. Remote service discovery in particular has not been properly achieved so far. In an attempt to remedy this we propose a new architecture for enabling typical (local) service discovery ...
متن کاملA Location Service for Worldwide Distributed Objects
This position paper introduces the Globe object model for wide-area distributed systems and its location service. The location service provides transparency of location, migration, distribution, and replication of distributed objects. We present the architecture of the service and briefly discuss scalability.
